After a long period of time, Apple unveiled its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) yesterday. This new device will bring a unique user experience where users will look through the headset and also can interact with the surroundings. Although it will be released next year the Vision Pro will come with a hefty price tag of $3,499, instantly establishing itself as one of the most expensive Mixed Reality headsets which are available in the market.
As per Apple the product is not termed as a headset but will be termed as a “spatial computer”, this can be one of the most innovative products you can get in the coming days
The Vision Pro headset from Apple, while sharing some resemblance to existing AR and VR headsets of other brands, presents a unique form factor. The device operates on a fully three-dimensional interface that can be controlled through hand gestures, eye movements, and voice commands. This interface can also show the user’s surroundings, allowing them to know what is going on beside them. An interesting aspect of Vision Pro’s software is the ability to cast shadows on the user’s surroundings, creating a more immersive experience with virtual objects in the real world. This format of augmented reality offers a familiar Apple-like user experience in a new and innovative way.
Also, the product comes with spatial audio which really enhances the sound that you will feel after wearing it, and also spatial computing which enables the device to interact and understand the surrounding space. Also, the vision pro comes with a three-dimensional camera which enables the users to experience 3D content. This opens up really exciting possibilities for users. Vision Pro also operates only software non as Vision OS, which draws inspiration from other existing apple software platforms. The apps will be designed to support the new user interface of special Vision Pro.
The vision probe will be powered by the high-performance and silent M2 chip and also it will be accompanied by a new R1 chip that processes and analysis data from the onboard sensors. The Chip handles information from 12 cameras 5 sensors and 6 microphones at the same time to give a seamless experience. The mixed-reality device will come with a battery pack that will give a backup of 2 hours. The battery pack will be portable and can be conveniently carried in a pocket thus making the device lightweight and compact.
The display system of Vision Pro offers an ultra-high resolution display combining two displays to provide a total of 23 million pixels. These displays feature micro-OLED panels, supporting wide color and high dynamic range. Apple has also collaborated with ZEISS to create Optical Inserts, allowing individuals who wear glasses to use the headset comfortably.
The exterior of the Vision Pro headset comes with a laminated and polished glass panel that houses the cameras and sensors responsible for creating Apple’s immersive experiences. This glass component is connected to an aluminum frame and a Light Seal, which can be adjusted to block out the surrounding environment to the desired extent. By utilizing the Digital Crown, a familiar control mechanism seen in Apple Watch and AirPods Max, users can adjust the level of immersion in their experience. For audio delivery, the headset features dual-driver audio pods positioned near each ear. These pods form Apple’s most advanced Spatial Audio system, adapting to the user’s environment in real-time. The Head Band of the headset features flexible straps that ensure the audio pods stay close to the wearer’s ears, optimizing the audio experience for its users.
