After issues with Privacy, Elon Musk is releasing Whatsapp Like features on Twitter.

Elon Musk has asked questions about the reliability of WhatsApp after a Twitter engineer alleged that the messaging app was using his microphone while he was sleeping. The engineer posted a screenshot of an Android dashboard to back up his accusation which is really scary. In response, Musk tweeted that he does not trust WhatsApp anymore. Meanwhile, the CEO of Twitter has said he will introduce features similar to WhatsApp, such as voice and video calls, to the Twitter platform.

According to a tweet by the Twitter engineer, Foad Dabiri, he shared a screenshot of an Android dashboard that appears to show that WhatsApp had been accessing his microphone in the background from 4:20 am to 6:53 am. Dabiri expressed his concern by asking, “What’s going on?” and stated that the app had been using his microphone while he was asleep and even after he woke up at 6:00 am, and this is a big concern for us.

WhatsApp has already responded to the allegations made by the Twitter engineer regarding the app’s use of his microphone in a tweet. Whatsapp clarified that the issue was due to a bug in Android, which was causing incorrect information to be displayed on the user’s privacy dashboard. WhatsApp stated that the affected phone was a Google Pixel, and they requested Google to investigate the matter and provide a solution instantly.

In another tweet, WhatsApp reiterated that its users have complete control over their microphone settings and that the microphone can only be accessed when a user is making a call or recording a voice or video note. The messaging app has also responded that there was no unauthorized access to the user’s microphone while they were not actively using the app.

In response to the issue raised by the Twitter engineer, WhatsApp has been in contact with the individual and issued a statement on Twitter, saying, “Over the last 24 hours, we’ve been in touch with a Twitter engineer who posted an issue with his Pixel phone and WhatsApp.” Whatsapp also stated that they believe the issue to be a bug on the Android platform, causing inaccurate information to be displayed on the privacy dashboard. WhatsApp has asked Google to investigate and resolve the issue.

Elon Musk has now confirmed on Twitter that he will add WhatsApp-like features to the Twitter platform. In his tweet, he announced that the latest version of the Twitter app will allow users to reply to any message in a Twitter thread via direct messages (DMs), as well as use any emoji reaction. He also stated that the release of encrypted DMs V1.0 is expected to happen soon and that this feature will rapidly evolve in the coming days.

Musk also revealed that Twitter will soon be introducing voice and video chat, enabling users to communicate with anyone on the platform without giving out their phone numbers. He emphasized the privacy and security of the new feature by stating that even under extreme situations, he could not access a user’s DMs under any circumstances.

It is also important to note that Elon Musk is not the owner of Twitter. Twitter is a publicly-traded company with a Board of Directors and various stakeholders. While Musk is a well-known figure on Twitter and has made significant changes to the platform as a user, he does not have any ownership stake or control over the company.

That being said, Twitter has undergone a lot of changes in recent years, including the introduction of Twitter Blue, a subscription service that offers additional features such as the ability to undo tweets, custom app icons, and many more. Twitter has also made changes to its verification process for accounts, including the removal of the blue tick from accounts that do not meet the verification criteria or violate the platform’s rules. These changes are part of Twitter’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience and promote a safe and healthy online environment with this App.

First Teaser of Nothing Phone 2 which is launching this summer.

Nothing has officially confirmed the upcoming launch of its premium smartphone, the Phone (2), in the global market. The company, led by Carl Pei, is also planning to release the device in the Indian market soon. In a tweet accompanied by a teaser, Nothing has revealed that the Phone (2) will be launched during the summer of 2023. With the summer season already underway, it suggests that the device may hit the market in the coming months.

The tweet also emphasized the word “Premium,” indicating that Nothing might be venturing into the flagship smartphone segment with its second variant. This suggests that the Phone (2) may come with a higher price tag compared to its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (1).

While specific details about the Phone (2) are scarce, the teaser hints at a continuation of Nothing’s unique and distinctive design approach, featuring lights and geometric patterns reminiscent of the first-generation Nothing Phone. The teaser also reveals the presence of a red-colored light, adding to the intrigue. As the launch date approaches, Nothing is expected to disclose more information about the device’s specifications and features.

It is worth noting that Nothing recently released its first 2nd generation product, the Nothing Ear (2), which was a pair of earphones. If the company follows a similar pricing strategy for the Phone (2), we can anticipate a significant increase in price compared to the initial Nothing Phone (1). The Ear (2) was launched at a price of Rs 9,999, whereas the Ear (1) initially debuted at Rs 4,999 but later saw a price hike.

So Nothing may follow the same footsteps, in releasing the Nothing Phone 2 with an increased price and better features.

Whatsapp’s New Feature will Autoplay animated emojis directly over chat.

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that will allow GIFs to autoplay over chat, eliminating the need for users to click on them in order to play. The update came from WABetaInfo, who shared a screenshot on their blog. Initially, some users thought it was a bug, but it has now been confirmed as a feature in the upcoming update. The autoplay feature provides convenience and many users will like it. However, it’s worth noting that the autoplay only occurs once, and if users want to replay the GIF, they will need to tap on it. Currently, the autoplay feature is available to select beta users who have updated their WhatsApp to the latest version on the Play Store. It is expected to roll out to more users in the near future soon.

In other news, WhatsApp seems to be working on animated emojis, aiming to enhance the overall messaging experience for its users. This new feature will bring a touch of humor to conversations within the App. WhatsApp has been actively working on various features and new updates to enhance the user experience, and the addition of animated emojis is undoubtedly one of those improvements.

When sending animated emojis, the animated version of a specific emoji will be sent by default if available, and users may not have the option to disable the animation. According to WABetaInfo, these animated emojis are created using Lottie, an optimized library that allows designers to quickly create high-quality animations. The animated emojis are small in size and can be resized without sacrificing quality. The release date for the animated emoji feature is set for a future update and will come soon for all users.

Another New Feature coming to Whatsapp which is copied from Telegram.

Telegram already has a popular channel feature where users can broadcast messages to potential users. However, the feature is also coming to Whatsapp to compete with Telegram. Instagram has already adopted the channel feature where users can receive messages.

According to a WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is currently testing Channels for iOS beta users in version 23.8.0.75. These Channels will allow users to subscribe to sources of important information just like Instagram. WhatsApp is reportedly planning to rename the Status section as “Updates” and introduce Channels under that section. It is worth noting that WhatsApp was previously testing a Newsletter feature that serves the same purpose as Channels, and it seems that the company will launch this feature as Channels.

It is important to note that Channels will not be end-to-end encrypted. However, privacy will still be a priority, and personal information such as phone numbers will not be visible on subscribed channels. WhatsApp will ensure that users have control over their choice and privacy regarding channels, allowing them to choose which channels to join. Additionally, individual one-to-one messages will remain end-to-end encrypted as usual.

The feature is still being developed and will first roll out to beta users on Android and iOS. However, a stable public rollout can be rolled out soon.

Animated Emojis are coming to Whatsapp Soon.

Whatsapp is releasing a lot of updates and recently it has been confirmed that Whatsapp is working on the Animated Emoji feature to make the chat in the app more lively. It will make the app more fun to use and also the conversations playful.

According to WABetaInfo, a reliable source for all things WhatsApp pre-release, the new animated emojis were discovered in the WhatsApp Desktop beta and are expected to be released in future updates of the app. While animated emojis are nothing new and are even embraced by some messaging apps, WhatsApp has been slower to incorporate them. However, even a small feature like animated emojis could make a big difference, particularly if effectively executed.

Source : WABetaInfo

WhatsApp is using the Lottie technology to make the animated elements relatively efficient in terms of size. We have got a sneak peek of the current state of animated emojis. It appears that the emojis can be sent automatically, without giving users that much control. This could be a drawback for some users who prefer a more streamlined and flat look.

However, since this feature has not been officially released as of now, there is a possibility that it could change in the future. WABetaInfo mentions that the feature is expected to debut in a future update of the desktop beta and will also be available on the beta versions of Android and iOS.
